Residents are being urged to drive with extra care while making their way around the Mother City today, as heavy rains are flooding some roads and causing accidents in others.
After rain drenched Cape Town overnight and on into the early hours of the morning the South African Weather Service issued a number of flood alerts on Friday, October 25. Congestion has also become a problem on many busy roads this morning.
Rosmead Avenue in Wynberg is reportedly flooded along with a number of other road in the City today including those in Parow, Grassy Park and Constantia.

The flooding alerts will be in place from 10am on Friday until 9pm this evening. Specific areas such as the City of Cape Town, Theewaterskloof, Overstrand, Hermanus and Grabouw are all on the alert for flooding and severe weather.
Persistent and intense periods of rain have been forecast for Friday over areas such as the Cape Winelands, the western Overberg and the Cape Metropole with a focus on areas with informal settlements.
Some areas in the province will receive as much as 50mm of rain. The rainy whether is expected to bolster dam levels but could cause havoc for residents due to flooding.
Delays can be expected in areas such as the N1 southbound at Rigel Avenue, the N2 outbound, the R300 at the ramp to Old Paarl and the N2 on Hospital Bend.
Earlier today a taxi flipped while approaching the N2 Symphony Bridge due to the rainy weather. The incident has been cleared but the affects of the rainy weather are expected to continue throughout the day only tampering off closer to the evening and returning again on Sunday.
