Capetonians keen to cash in on recent sunny days by the ocean are advised to steer clear of the coast this weekend. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow weather warning 1 for some parts of the Western Cape.
From Wednesday afternoon [December 2] to Friday [December 4] and again from Saturday [December 5] to Sunday [December 6], wind will wreak havoc.
“OFF THE COAST!! Yellow warning 1 for WIND resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea is expected between Lambert’s Bay and Betty’s Bay (W.Cape) from this afternoon until Friday, but between Dassen Island and Betty’s Bay on Saturday and Sunday (03-06/12/2020),” warned SAWS in a a statement.
“Small vessels and personal water craft (e.g. kayaks) are also at risk of taking on water and capsizing in a locality.
“Strong to gale force (60-80km/h) southerly to south easterly winds along the western and south western coastal areas are expected, where the strongest winds are expected during the afternoons,” they add.
