Dam levels continue to rise in the Western Cape as the rainy weather persists throughout the province. This past week’s adverse weather conditions has lead to a 2.7% increase in dam levels.

The Western Cape’s dams are currently at 90.7% capacity, up 2.7% from last week. This time last year, dam levels were sitting at 81.9%.

The fullest dams are Berg River at 100.8% capacity, Steenbras Upper at 99% and Steenbras Lower with 98.8%. The rest of the dams are all above 86% capacity.

More rain is predicted for the week which may increase levels even further. Showers will continue through most of Monday and start clearing by late afternoon.

Wednesday morning [September 2] will bring wind gusts of up to 40km/h and heavy rainfall starting at 9am which will continue throughout the day and into Thursday morning [September 3]. Temperatures of a high of 16°C and a low of 13°C are anticipated.

The rest of the week will be fairly cold but the sun makes an appearance on Thursday and Friday [September 4]. On Saturday, September 5 there is more rainfall, this time starting at 7am in the morning continuing through to 5pm. Sunday [September 6] will be bright and sunny again.
