We live in one of the most gorgeous and exciting cities in the entire world, where people from far and wide put our city on their travel bucket list.

If you’re a local, no doubt you have some friends and family who will, or are making a trip to the West Coast. And we know you become the designated tour guide during those times. Here are some snazzy, proper touristy and sneaky local adventures to take your visiting human or humans on! And maybe just bring out the inner tourist in you.

1. I love the Dough

AKA: The famous pink light. Gatsby may have adored the green light, but Capetonians and tourists come from all corners to chase I Love the Dough’s pink glitz. Employees have said that people have literally seen the pink glow from the mountain and followed it. An amazing pizza and cocktail experience at one of the most aesthetic places ever? Your visiting friends will love this, and so will their Instagrams.

2. Two Oceans Aquarium

There’s a reason that this experience is always recommended, and that’s because it’s one of the most fun and curious visits. 1. It’s not something you can do just anywhere in South Africa. 2. You get to learn so much about the ocean’s children. Your touring friend’s family WhatsApp group will love this one.

3. Zeits Museum of Contemporary Art Africa

Your art adoring visitor will beam with this one, and those who are just curious may fall in love with art museums. There are few better ways to spend your time, if you aren’t feeling like being outdoorsy and that is to gaze at gorgeous pieces.

4. Signal Hill

Another famous one, but there’s a reason for that. Sunsets seen at this point are so worth travelling for. Make the experience even more lovely by packing a picnic, and enjoy the sights that the city is famous for.

5.Rollerblading at Rollercade

This one is for a visiting friend who is always looking to try new and quirky things. It’s a must-do because it’s super unique and so 1980s.

6. The Labia Theatre

An old fashioned movie theatre like The Labia will take your friends back in time. It’s aesthetic and just something different to get up to. 10/10 recommend.

The Wine Tram is the experience for your friend who literally came to Cape Town for the vino. It’s an amazing alternative to simply wine tasting. This one is a must.

Of course, you have to do Lions head for a cheeky hike and gorgeous view. Get your visiting amigos up at dawn for an early morning, or let dusk take you into a beautiful sunset.

Cruise through the city and let your own inner tourist come out along with your friend. It’s an exciting way to do some site-seeing and takes walking out of the equation for the more relaxed visitor.
