As the weather warms up and we move towards welcoming the Summer season, Garden Day South Africa is annually held to celebrate all things green, from vibrant flowers to thriving fruit and vegetable patches.

1.Langkloof Roses, Rose Festival
In celebration of Garden Day, the idyllic Langkloof Roses in Wellington is hosting the start of their annual rose picking seasons. For the first time, patrons can pick roses to commemorate the day. Attendees can learn how to make rose and fresh herb crowns, savor a rose themed picnic or try a selection of rose high tea and cakes.

2. Jamestown Vegetable Garden lunch
Celebrity Chef Bertus Basson, will be hosting an intimate Garden Day celebration at his Jamestown vegetable garden. A delicious lunch will be served catering to 14 guests only.
Fresh ingredients from Basson’s garden will be used to cook up a storm of flavour. The event will also function as a fundraiser for the Animal Welfare Society in Stellenbosch.

The wholesome meal will cost R750 per person and R350 per child.

3. Stellenbosch Brewing Co, Family Fun day
Grab the whole family for a fun day out at the Stellenbosch Breweries as they host a Family Fun day event in celebration of Garden Day SA. The event will host an array of festivities for kids such as horse cart rides and acrobranch in the blue-gum forests. There will be a picnic-style menu, craft beers and organic wines on offer.
The kids can dine with the resident geese and chickens as they immerse themselves in nature for the day.
Floral themed cupcakes will be available to enjoy.

4. Babylonstoren, Flower crown workshop
Learn how to adorn your head with a crown made of flowers at the Babylonstoren farm, using fynbos and greenery from the ground’s garden. The workshop is 30 minutes long and there are three sessions per day from 10am, 12pm and 2pm.
Patrons are advised to book before hand. The workshop is free with a R10 Babylonstoren gate fee applicable.
While you are visiting the gardens, head to the elegant and outdoor Greenhouse restaurant for a bite.
