Cape Town has a pretty huge wine culture. It’s probably comparable to how Americans view their football games. Yup, Capetonians love their wine. And if this is the perfect analogy, then Stellenbosch has to be Cape Town’s (wine) mascot.

While we can’t head to our favourite haunt for a drink or two thanks to Level 4 Covid restrictions, we are dreaming of our favourite places to visit once alcohol restrictions are lifted.

At the top of our list – Brampton Wine Studio

Nestled along Stellenbosch’s vibey Church Street, Brampton is a not-so-hidden gem that ensures you’ll have a lekker time sipping wine and munching on their out-of-this-world flatbreads – the holy grail of all flatbreads.

A day spent wine tasting on a renowned wine farm sounds idyllic, but if you’re looking for a laid-back vibe that leaves you feeling as though you’re chilling at your music-loving friend’s house, then this wine studio is the place to be.

The Space

Outside seating is available for those beautifully hot Stellenbosch summers, but if you’re looking to escape the cold and warm your insides, then having a glass of red wine in their vibrantly decorated space is perfect. Music is a theme that’s carried throughout the space, with cool quotes and lyrics from artists like Pink Floyd splashed across the wall.

“Wined and dined, it seems just like a dream,” is written on one wall. Thanks, Pink Floyd – the wine and dining was a dream!

The Wine and dine

Brampton offers a range of premium wines that you can sample, with two options to choose from on their menu. There’s the classic wine tasting for those days you’re feeling brave and looking to sample seven delicious glasses of wine. Or opt for their premium tasting, which gives you the chance to sip on their best wines, including the Roxton, their Brampton Brut Rosé MCC, and the latest addition, the Roxton Black.

All incredible blends that pair well with their creative and fun tarot cards! These brightly coloured cards are filled with fun trivia and tips on how to enjoy your wine. For example, did you know that the wreck of the Titanic holds the oldest wine cellar in the world? Well, neither did we.

But no wine tasting is complete with a signature dish, and Brampton has (in my opinion) the best flatbread this side of Cape Town. Choose between a Malay style chicken and feta flatbread (the Elvis) or juicy sirloin and caramelized onions with avocado (Lennon). Wraps, fresh salads and craft beer also feature on this simple yet classic menu.

Delicious, fun and friendly. Brampton Wine Studio is the perfect choice for anyone looking to enjoy premium wine tasting and good food without having to trek to a Stellies wine farm.

South Africa’s third wave may have put a damper on our ability to enjoy a good glass of wine; however, Brampton is offering patrons the chance to order their favourite Brampton wine at 15% off, which will be delivered once restrictions have eased.
