Human rights: teamwork, accountability, transformation, collaboration, passion, equality and social cohesion. These are just a few of the values that the Zip Zap programme aims to instill in their youth candidates. Witness the amazing passion and teamwork of these kids in the upcoming production, The Greatest Little Circus Show, happening on April 13 and 14, at the Zip Zap Dome in Cape Town.

Zip Zap, with 10 outreach and youth development programmes, is an ideal example of how well teamwork can instill these values into today’s youth, creating a culture of peace in South Africa. Working with a diverse community of children from all backgrounds, the social circus helps children ‘dare to dream’ and learn to make these dreams a reality.

With a mission of taking ‘‘ordinary’’ kids (including youths-at-risk) and providing them with the resources to develop skills, through the medium of Circus Arts, Zip Zap aims to develop young leaders, good citizens, ambassadors for South Africa, and make them eminently employable at no cost to their beneficiaries.

Professional performers and instructors, Jason Barnard and Jacobus Claassen, are prime examples of the effectiveness of the programme. They are a dynamic duo who worked their way through Zip Zap and are now employed by the organisation as full-time staff. Both are fully involved and will be performing in the upcoming event.
