Drug: from Old French ‘drogue’, meaning medicine or cure. Also from Old Dutch ‘droog’, meaning dried herbs. Curious herbalists are invited to join the Grow Your Own Medicine- Herbalism Workshop on Sunday, April 14, from 9.30 AM – 2.30 PM.

The event, organised by Guerilla House, will take place at Joshua Tree Organics Cape Town. Guerilla House is a shared learning platform for the experimentation and pursuit of regenerative technologies and regenerative worldviews. This is an impromptu and organic training space where people can learn practical urban permaculture skills, deepen interconnection, and actively engage in regeneration as a collective.

The workshop aims to reconnect guests to a long history of co-evolution with these natural remedies. For as long as humanity has existed, nature has helped heal, and the event focuses on revisiting and sharing some of this ancient knowledge.

Guests can expect to learn the herbalism basics, with a focus on teas and tisanes, oil infusions, ointments and salves, tinctures, cough syrups, breath fresheners and herbal safety. This is a shared learning and participatory workshop where participants will make and take home samples of the above.

In the spirit of compassionate sharing, attendees are asked to bring a meal that can be shared amongst the group (this is not compulsory). Ensure what you bring to share is kosher / halaal / vegetarian. Also, bring a sun-hat and importantly, an open mind.

Note that the workshop will only go ahead if there is a minimum of 14 confirmed paying participants. Should this number not be met, tickets will be fully refunded. Tickets are non-refundable otherwise. Confirmation that this target has been reached and the workshop will go ahead will be announced on Monday 08 April 2019 on the events Facebook page. There are reduced cost ticket options for pensioners and low and no income earners. Send a motivational message to apply. Only a limited number of these tickets available per workshop, so applicants will be vetted.
