Now in its 4th year, the Solo Studios – Intimate Art Encounters takes place from August 8 – 11. All the art galleries in town will be taking part as well as the towns renown artists opening their studios to the public – where they can view and buy the art directly.

There are also offshoot happenings such as talks by Jacques Paauw who lives in the valley, an art exhibition with the works of previously disadvantaged artists, art walks/tours, and new to the event this year is a collaboration with a community project called The Olive Branch – which will see members of the local community entertaining visitors with theatre, dance, poetry, singing etc throughout the course of the weekend.

Street performances by poets, actors, singers and dancers soon became synonymous with First Fridays in Riebeek Kasteel, where businesses stay open until 8pm on the first Friday of every month. Over the long weekend, these aspiring artists will share a platform with host of big names in the creative world during Solo Studios – Intimate Art Encounters. At the core of the event are 18 acclaimed resident artists who will open their studios to visitors.
