The choir that has made South Africa proud, from America’s Got Talent to performing with P!nk to winning multiple national and international awards, performed live from Robben Island and we’ve still got full body goosebumps.
The performance was set up in support of the Africa Rising and Live Love non-profit’s. The goal was to support those working in the arts who have suffered dramatically as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds raised were made with the hopes of aiding #FeedOurCrew and Bridges For Music.
The performance by Master KG and the Ndlovu Youth Choir broke South African streaming records, with over 1 million views on Facebook, reports The Good Things Guy.
“What a privilege it is to work again, the last event of this magnitude was in February 2020, pre lockdown. I could not think of a better way to emerge from our hiatus and kick off our industry than be part of an event with this calibre of talent. We can’t wait to showcase Africa Rising to the rest of the continent, and bring the work of African artists to life in iconic Africa spaces. Most importantly, it is an honour to bring event crew back to work,” said Ryan Christian, show director of Africa Rising.
