Ikaraam van Witt from Bonteheuwel works professionally at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, but this is just a start for the Capetonian with a huge heart for people and his community.

Ikaraam and a few friends started the Iekie and Friends Foundation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The foundation’s first project was The Stationery Drive which supplied the Grade 7’s of Central Park Primary with the goodies they needed to dive into the academic year.

We were lucky enough to chat to the foundation starter about his incredible work.

The project’s main aim is to feed the community at least once a month. Iekie and Friends go into different areas to distribute all kinds of foods. From cupcakes to fruit packs, the foundation are supplying the goods.

“The reason for starting this foundation is, many have lost jobs and many couldn’t afford or didn’t know where the next plate of food was coming from and that’s when myself and a few friends jumped in, to make a difference.

Our foundation believes we don’t just hand out food, we go out there with the intention, to spread love, hope and to see a happy face of a child is priceless.”
