Hunger is an epidemic plagueing the world. Rise Against Hunger is working to combat this with their meal packing sessions being held at shopping centres in Cape Town.
This special edition packathon is coined the One Million Plus One campaign, and will be MC’ed by Expresso TV presenter Graeme Richards in partnership with boutique marketing agency, The Blue Room.
Join Rise Against Hunger, the international hunger relief organisation, to pack meal packs for hungry South African children at Brackenfell Centre, Brackenfell, on Saturday 19 October and Ipic Shopping Centre Soneike, Kuils River, on Saturday, October 26. Participants can sign up for hour-long packing slots.
Rise Against Hunger has a vision of eradicating world hunger by 2030. Richards, who had been involved with Rise Against Hunger for several years, says, “Ten to twenty children die due to starvation every day in South Africa. How can it be that in 2019 we have so many children dying daily on our doorstep, because their parents and caregivers can’t afford to feed them? We have to come together, as a nation, to bring an end to these deaths – and through Rise Against Hunger, we’re making progress.”
“Last year, though our Meals for Mandela campaign, we managed to pack 100 000 meals. This year, we wanted to up the ante to a million and one, hence the name One Million Plus One.”
To participate, you can sign-up for a slot on the Rise Against Hunger Africa website or visit the shopping centre on the day.
