The only thing more beautiful than the winelands during harvest season, is the winelands in Autumn. The air is cool and crisp, the leaves of the vineyards are a gorgeous golden brown and you can still enjoy the magnificent scenery without feeling too cold.
This perfect mixture of elements can be best appreciated at the Elgin Cool Wine Country Food Festival. Every year, after the harvest, the Elgin Wine Valley opens its doors to visitors to enjoy the beautiful valley before Winter settles in and forces us to stay indoors.
Sixteen wine farms are ready to welcome you and share their wares with you. As the coolest wine growing region in South Africa, you will be sampling wines with a distinct character, defined by the grapes that ripen slowly in the valley. Whether you are a wine connoisseur, lover or novice, you will find a tasting to suit you. Enjoy MCC tastings, chocolate and wine pairings, vertical tastings and casual, informal wine tastings
What’s a festival without entertainment?
For the music lovers, you can enjoy a variety of genres ranging from country rock, blues, 60’s swing, jazz, indie-rock to rocking dj’s. Parents can enjoy their wine in peace, as there is plenty of activities to keep the little ones occupied. They can look forward to tractor rides, jumping castles, face paintings and lawn games. While children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, they get to enjoy the festival for free. You can also look forward to delicious food served at the various wine farms. Pop-up kitchens, food trucks and restaurants will satisfy any craving.
Your ticket gets you a tasting glass, festival programme, access to participating wine farms and tasting a selection of three wines of your choice from any farm. Find a programme for the festival here.
