With the introduction of their new internationally acclaimed executive chef and SASSI Trailblazer, Philip Alcock, the President Hotel situated in Bantry Bay invites food and wine lovers to its monthly Wine & Dine dinner events.
Nestled beneath Lion’s Head and surrounded by ocean views, the series takes diners on a sophisticated culinary journey with a five-course dinner masterfully paired with a selection of distinguished wine estates.
Dishes prepared by the chef will feature robust flavours of seasonally sourced ingredients each created to enhance the exceptional qualities of local South African wines.
From 19:00, guests can tuck into a wholesome menu featuring five exquisite red and white wines, which will be paired with modern classics from the land and sea. Inspired by the knowledge and experience from both the chef and featured wine ambassador, guests can look forward to wonderful evenings in the company of great food, wine, and friends.
On September 5, the menu will be paired with Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards. The leading estate home to Franschhoek Valley produces some of the best vintages in South Africa and enjoys a reputation for easy-drinking Cape wines that are perfect for all occasions.
On October 26, Chef Philip will be joined by renowned South African Chef Craig Paterson as well as welcome Maître Cuisiniers de France and award-winning executive chef, Bernard Guillas, of the Marine Room, California for a six-course collaboration dinner, “Cape Town Meets California.” This spectacular night of fine dining will enjoy cooking demonstrations by all three chefs with the menu artfully paired with revered Anthonij Rupert wines. The flagship range represents the pinnacle of quality, achieved by using only the best grapes from the best-suited terroirs and processed by the most sophisticated machinery in winemaking today.
On November 7, the President Hotel will welcome Stellenbosch’s own Tokara winery. Nestled beneath the southern slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain where the combination of weathered sandstone and decomposed granite lend structure, perfume, and longevity to the wine selection.
The five-course pairings on 5 September and 7 November are R325 per person, and the six-course collaboration dinner on 26 October is R650 per person.
