After a very successful event in 2018, Joëlle Sleebos and the Dharma Project present the 4th International Day of Yoga, in Cape Town, on Saturday June 22 2019. The event will unite yogis, at an exciting new venue in Gardens, to celebrate the gift of yoga and to support raising funds for Earthchild Project.

Entries are free, however participants are asked to donate to Earthchild Project. Participants can choose from either a morning session that will run from 8.30am to 1.30pm or an afternoon session that will run from 2pm to 6.30pm. Both sessions will have a mega yoga class, yoga workshops, a yoga market and a raffle with great prizes to be won.

In 2014, the United Nations declared an official International Day of Yoga to be held on June 21 each year. Joëlle Sleebos, a well-known international yoga instructor from the Netherlands living in Cape Town, hosted the first Cape Town IDY in 2016 and since then it has grown from strength to strength.

Earthchild Project understands the importance of yoga and, more importantly, the importance of yoga for children. This NGO goes into underprivileged schools and teaches yoga and life skills to children. It is presently working with over 3,500 children in eight schools in Khayelitsha and Lavender Hill. For just R250 one child is provided with weekly yoga classes for an entire year.

To secure your spot at the International Day of Yoga, visit https://www.joellesleebos.com. You can also buy a “ticket for a friend” – these will be given to people that do not have the means to buy a ticket. You can choose to donate to Earthchild Project (http://earthchildproject.org ) from R50 – R1000 by selecting the donation that you prefer.

Joëlle and all participating sponsors and volunteers cannot wait to welcome all the yogis to their serene space, to unite the existing yoga communities and allow anyone a chance to try yoga, including people who may normally not be able to afford it.

Please remember to bring your own yoga mat or beach towel. Limited mats will be available to rent.

The first 150 people to arrive at each session will receive a complimentary goodie bag.
