Some are calling it the Crocs revival (as per Bubblegum Club). However, I am personally and proudly here for any campaign that truly embraces steps taken forward – especially if they’re dripping in rainbow progression, writes Cape {town} Etc’s Ashleigh Nefdt.
When it comes to Crocs, the trend cycle has never applied. They’ve actually always been one step ahead by being in their own universe. Perhaps Crocs always had the right mindset, and one’s own dimension is the place to step into.
So what does the Crocverse look like right now? It’s proven to be pretty gorgeous lately, drenched in rainbow love.
As with ‘fashion’, what was once considered beautiful in love has drastically and wonderfully changed. Croc’s latest range for Pride Month has proven this.
As Crocs expresses, “Come as You Are.” Not only have they dedicated an entire range to the message, they’re also planning to further demonstrate their commitment to inclusivity and support of advocacy by donating funds to NPO’s striving towards equality in the LGBTQI+ community. Their venture included Hero Creative Management’s Director and head photographer, Neil Roberts. Additionally they’ve teamed up with numerous powerhouse drag queens representing the different facets of the queer experience.
“These creatives were identified as “One-Of-A-Kinds” to bring more personal meaning to ‘Come As You Are’ with the aim of assisting our global efforts in creating further awareness for the LGBTQI+ community and emphasizing creative expression, individuality and community!” explains Ally Petersen, Crocs SA Marketing Manager.
Crocs declares that expressing yourself and being comfortable are not mutually exclusive.
With this project, Crocs dreams of a more open-minded and inclusive future for their community.
As part of their Pride campaign and throughout the coming months, Crocs will be celebrating those who come as they are with content and storytelling across social media and digital platforms.
We should all follow in Crocs footsteps and allow everyone to be comfortable in their own shoes, no matter whether the literal fashion trend or trend of society is in or out.
