On May 14, Adidas and Pharrell Williams dropped The NMD (Nomad) HU “Clear Aqua” sneaker. South Africans weren’t exactly happy with the fact that the shoe is not at all available in our country despite the inspiration for it being, well, based on SA Xhosa culture and language.
(You can read more about that here)
But the numbers are in and the prices are steamy for the latest edition of the Humanrace family. We would be paying a lot of bucks for the kick… that is if we were able to get it in our streets in the first place. Here’s what the imaginary receipts are looking like, added with the extra costs of going through various missions to get the shoe to SA in the first place.
The ‘Uluntu’ wear will cost a small fortune of $220 dollars according to Adidas, which is roughly R3100. For the UK, the prices spike slightly higher, at £180 which translates to R3,557.
Now actually getting the shoe to South Africa will also have you collecting coins like you’re Sonic. Going through resellers is always pricy. Punching in the costs of their own add ons and shipping, and you might be wondering if the drip is actually worth it.
