New data released by the Central Energy (CEF) suggests that April’s petrol price increase will hit South Africa’s motorists from out of left field. Fuel increased by 74 cents in March, and while consumers have hoped that the prices will drop, this is not on the cards.
The fuel prices released by the CEF will only be compounded by the official implementation of fuel taxes from next month onwards.
The costs of 93 and 95 petrol will increase by R1.03 and R1.05 respectively. An additional 29 cents will also be added to these prices, as this is what the fuel levy demands.
Diesel users are not exempt from an increase; this fuel will increase in price by 59 cents next month.
April’s expected fuel price increase will mean that drivers will pay the following amount per litre of fuel:
Coastal regions
– Petrol: R15.53 – R15.58.
– Diesel: R14.22.
Inland regions
– Petrol: R15.92 – 15.97.
– Diesel: R14.70.
