A 13-year-old boy was reportedly rescued from being kidnapped after he was pushed inside a vehicle by unknown men while walking along De Houtman Street in Belrail, Bellville on Friday.
According to IOL, police were investigating a case of attempted murder.
The incident was caught on surveillance camera and the video was widely shared on social media. In the video, the boy could be seen walking on the side of the road when a silver car pulled up and a man jumped out and tried to force him into the car.
Police said that a neighbour ran towards the car and threw something at the suspects, and the boy fell out of the car while the suspects fled the scene.
This incident came after police in Knysna arrested a 20-year-old woman for allegedly kidnapping her friend’s 3-month-old baby at Kwanokuthula in Plettenberg Bay on Sunday.
Police said an investigation had led officers to the Kwanokuthula area, where the woman and the baby were found at a church, EWN reported.
“She was arrested with a charge of kidnapping. The suspect remains in custody and will appear in court once charged, police said.
