Suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule was removed from a virtual ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Saturday morning.
According to IOL, Magashue confirmed that he was removed from the NEC virtual meeting.
“I am the one who convened that meeting, I called the meeting and have been making plans until yesterday. The meeting started at 10 am and at 10:10 they noticed I was part of the Zoom meeting and pressed the button. I am not part of the meeting anymore, that is all I can say,” Magashule was quoted as saying.
Magashule had on Friday vowed to attend the NEC meeting that was aimed at discussing his fate as secretary-general of the African National Congress.
“I am the secretary-general of the ANC and I have appealed all the illegal processes,” Magashule told SABC, adding that he remained the secretary-general.

A News24 report said before the meeting began, Magashule met with ANC Women’s League officials. But that meeting was said to be brief as party chairperson Gwede Mantashe shot down the league members who sought to engage the ANC on the party’s step-aside policy.
The ANC this week, suspended the membership of Magashule until the finalisation of his court case.
This came as the party’s national working committee meeting on Monday, May 3, agreed that suspension letters should be issued to all those who faced formal charges or any other serious charges.
Magashule was currently out on R200 000 bail and charged with corruption, fraud and money laundering related to a Free State asbestos tender, dating back to his tenure as premier of the province.
In a letter dated May 3, ANC deputy secretary-general Jesse Duarte informed Magashule that he was temporarily suspended.
