Pharmaceutical company Adcock Ingram Limited has announced a recall of a batch of its Panado Pediatric alcohol-free grape-flavoured syrup due to a quality issue involving its active ingredient, paracetamol, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The company confirmed that the syrup, sold in both 50ml and 100ml bottles, was found to contain precipitation in the paracetamol, which affects the product’s visual appearance. As a result, the syrup did not meet the final specifications required for its visual description, prompting the recall.

The affected products have expiry dates in July 2025 as well as February 2026 and April 2026. Despite the issue, Adcock Ingram emphasized that the recall is classified as Class III, meaning the potential health risk to patients is minimal.

 

The company reassured the public that it is working closely with health authorities to remove the affected products from shelves and ensure consumer safety. Adcock Ingram has advised parents and guardians who have purchased the product to return it to the place of purchase for a refund or exchange.

This recall follows standard safety procedures in the pharmaceutical industry, highlighting the importance of product quality and consumer safety. The company has apologized for any inconvenience caused and emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards for all its products.
