The all-female crew of the Indian Naval ship INSV Tarini docked in Cape Town on Friday morning. The female naval team from Port Stanley in the Falklands is in the third leg of its maiden voyage to circumnavigate the world. The six-member women crew is skippered by Lt Commander Vartika Joshi. Cape Town is the last stop before they reach India.

The crew is still on course to make history by becoming the first Indian and Asian women in the world to achieve this feat, while the Indian Navy will become the first military operation in the world to have women completing a circumnavigation.

Local yachts welcomed the INSV Tarini’s arrival in Table Bay, after which the crew docked at the Two Oceans Aquarium in the V&A Waterfront’s North Wharf. The crew was welcomed by the Mayor of Cape Town, Patricia De Lille and other dignitaries. They will be moored at the Royal Cape Yacht Club until their departure on Wednesday, 14 March.
