Acts of kindness don’t have to be grand gestures. Sometimes the seemingly smallest act of kindness have the greatest impact.
The Animal Welfare Society of South Africa experienced one such deed on Friday, May 7. Young Ameer, someone whose parents are currently teaching him about the importance of giving during his first Ramadaan fast, arrived with gifts for the animals in the shelter’s care.
Ameer’s mom explained that as a family they wanted him to understand that fasting is about more than simply being hungry. They wanted him to experience what it feels like to share with others. As a part of this process, they’ve taken his pre-loved toys to a children’s home, dropped groceries to a home for the aged and of course stopped off at Animal Welfare Society to deliver a donation for the animals.
“Ameer used his own money from his moneybox to buy two tins of cat food to add to the donation. After carefully scanning the shelves he thought that it would be a good idea to buy the cats in our care two cans of fish flavoured food that he took great pride in handing over to us on Friday,” says the Animal Welfare Society.
“Needless to say, Ameer’s thoughtfulness left an indelible impression on all of us and we wanted to publicly say thank you to this remarkable young man and his amazing family for including animals in their circle of compassion.”
