The American freelance journalist, Jenny J Jiang, who went missing at 2.05pm on Tuesday, 11 September after a day of sightseeing with a close friend – has been found safe.

Details of where she was found is unknown. Pink Ladies released a notification saying, “Found: Camps Bay WC Jenny C Jiang 37 yrs 11 September 2018. She is safe, unharmed and in a Medi Clinic for observation. We wish to thank each and every one in the public for their assistance in getting her back safe. Jenny’s friend, who lives in Johannesburg and would like to remain anonymous, said they were in Cape Town on holiday together and had made use of a Hop On Hop Off bus to go sightseeing for the day. “We came down from Table Mountain at about 12pm – we had spent the whole morning on the bus,” she said.

As Jenny was keen to make her way around Camps Bay on her own, her friend agreed to give her the space to explore the surrounds independently. “We know that Jenny got off at the Camps Bay stop at around 2.05pm that afternoon – we checked the Hop On Hop Off cameras to confirm – but that’s the last anyone saw of her,” her friend said earlier in the day.

She added that it is unlike Jenny not to check in with her. “After I returned home, I found the cellphone with Jenny’s local number at my house. She had left it there because the battery was dead and had forgotten to charge it again.”

The two were supposed to make their way to Johannesburg this week. They were in Cape Town enjoying a break in Bantry Bay. Their next stop was to the Kruger National Park before Jenny returned to the United States on September 28.
