At least eight suspected armed robbers were arrested in the Western Cape on Sunday after they allegedly ransacked a fast food outlet in Lutzville.

A News24 report said that police have since recovered R30 000 following the incident.

Western Cape police spokesperson FC van Wyk was quoted as saying that the robbers entered the takeaway shop and pretended to be customers.

“After being served, they held up the complainant with firearms and knives and took an undisclosed amount of cash and cellular telephone before fleeing the scene,” Van Wyk said.

According to Opera News, the suspects were captured by police who were close to the scene.  They were arrested during a joint operation between police from Lutzville and Clanwilliam, the report said.
