Beachgoers have been raising their concerns regarding the closing of the railway gate at Muizenberg beach. Many people use the gate to access the beach or the upper side of Muizenberg has been locked for two weeks now. As reported by Cape Talk, Clive Maasch from Noordhoek who surfs regularly at Muizenberg beach called in to report the dangers of people crossing the railway line unsupervised.
Maasch indicated that the situation has become so rife that people have been climbing over the fence. It is alleged that the Muizenberg station has also been locked and people are using alternative entrances. Meanwhile, another person took to Twitter to express her concerns regarding the closure of the railway crossing.
@CapeTownTrains the crossing closure at York Rd Muizenberg is pointless and dangerous. Able bodied people just climb over the fence onto the glass strewn tracks! The subway is SHUT! Disabled or elderly people, local businesses are disadvantaged. USE GUARDS! pic.twitter.com/OKBX9qc2FE
