The body of a 10-year-old boy who went missing on Wednesday, June 17 has been found. The boy went missing at Gansbaai harbour after reportedly falling into the water on the outside of the harbour wall.

NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon confirmed that the body was found on Thursday morning [June 19] after an extensive search.

“On Thursday morning, a Police Dive Unit continued in an ongoing search operation at Gansbaai Harbour, searching for a 10-year-old male child, a local, who had reportedly fallen into the water late on Wednesday afternoon and was missing. During a scuba dive search, the body of the child was located and recovered by police divers,” said Lambinon.

“The body has been taken into the care of government health forensic pathology services and police have opened an inquest docket. Condolences are conveyed to family and friends.”
