Summer is here and tourist season is upon us. In 2016 Cape Town has won award after award, cementing its status as a top tourist destination. From top beaches and coffee shops, the number one tourist attraction in the country to being voted the top city in the world, we have collected them all. Just when you thought our luck has run out, BOOM! We get another feather in our cap.
The world’s most successful travel publisher in the world, Lonely Planet, has named Cape Town the second best city in the world in their Best in Travel 2017 list. Bordeaux in France took the top spot, and Cape Town was followed up by Los Angeles, USA; Merida, Mexico and Ohid, Macedonia. Lonely Planet says our famous natural charms combines with our cultural and culinary additions is what makes us great.
Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel List is one of the highly anticipated travel guides in the world. They essentially set the trends for the ‘it’ travel destinations for the upcoming year. Landing this a spot on this list is a testament to the hard work we all put into the city. From the individual business owners to the City of Cape Town, everyone had played a vital part in making the Mother City great.
We have no doubt that this will be the first of numerous awards we receive for 2017. Let’s continue to enjoy all the wonderful sights and attractions of our city and welcome all the tourist that will undoubtedly flock to our shores following this honour.

Hope to visit Caoe Town in july or August.
The only connection in my opinion, is that they are both on the Atlantic
Absolutely one of the most beautiful cities in the world
Just been to Bordeaux which was a delight. A lovely city in a very different way to, one of my favourites, Cape Town.
Great news for CT, but who would have guessed Bordeaux as number one??
