The City of Cape Town has picked up yet another accolade, this time making it into Telegraph’s Most Beautiful Cities list.
Earlier this year, Cape Town was awarded by TripAdvisor for being one of the best cities in the world and more recently ranked by CNN as ninth best in the world (although we beg to differ, it’s number one).
Telegraph’s list included cities such as Sydney, Istanbul, Paris, Florence and Bruges (view the full list here).
The excerpt below was taken from Cape Town’s presence in the World’s Most Beautiful Cities list:
Pippa De Bruyn, our Cape Town expert, is right when she says that there is really no way to overstate the case for visiting the South African city: ‘First, there’s the in-your-face beauty of a craggy mountain range that drops precipitously into a glittering sea, its flanks carpeted in greens and delicate florals – the Cape Floral Kingdom, smallest yet richest in the world. Then there’s the pristine white beaches lapped by – it must be said – a chilly Atlantic, their curves defined by giant granite boulders.’ Couple this with good food, better wine, thriving art scene and possibly one of the best ranges of accommodation in the southern hemisphere, from boutique guesthouse to luxury resort – and there is little reason not to visit.

One gets unfriendly people in every city. Everyone told me how friendly Jhb was and I found it “unfriendly” and when I met people on flights between the cities they’d say”ah you must be from Jhb” and I was like “Nope Capetonian”…point being you get both categories of people every where…hopefully you meet some of the friendlier capetonians soon U0001f44dU0001f60a

I am in the fortunate position that my work has me travelling all over the World, which I have been doing for more than 20 years. My travels made me realise what a beautiful part of the World Cape Town is and how fortunate I am to be able to call this stunning city “My Home “

am not racist, yes CT is beautiful in town and in area of white people but take few kilometers in locations such as Gugulethu, Khayelitsha, Nyanga, Mannenberg…. most areas of black people and some of coloured, you will hate it the rest of your life even you will write a book bigger than a dictionary how CT is worse.
Don’t forget John, that thousands of people are coming to Cape Town every month from all over Africa. We are overburdened.
