The Mother City has done again!
Cape Town was named the best city in Africa and the Middle East, and the 10th best city globally in the 2016 Travel + Leisure awards in New York. We beat out cities from Peru, Thailand, Cambodia and Italy to make it into the top 10, with Charleston, South Carolina taking the number one spot.
This adds another (well deserved) feather in our city’s cap. This year we have already seen Cape Town ranked as the 11th best place to visit globally by US News & World Report and the best city in the world by The Telegraph in the UK.
We also have the worlds best coffee shop in Truth Roasting Coffee (an award title they have held on since last year) and one of the worlds best beaches with Camps Bay. Our very own Test Kitchen is the only restaurant in Africa to make the World’s Best Restaurant List, and that not even counting the numerous natural, historical, artistic and cosmopolitan offerings we have.
It seems our city is unstoppable! Here at Cape Town ETC, we get to see first hand how hard people work to make their business, art or initiatives great, and this in turn makes our city great. We could not be prouder. Here’s to ranking higher next year!

Capetown unlike other provinces did have the advantage that services supplied already was at 85% in 2011 but the DA government could only improve this with a measly 2% Most of the I poor communities did have services although of poor quality but they were serviced . Other provinces did start from a lower base but have double digit improvements in service delivery .I live in an area where no improvements has been made except connecting backyard dwellings to an already substandard and comprised sewage system so instead of having sewage overflow once in a while it become more frequent .I don’t care who governs as long as I got what I paid for . The irony is that the DA say they spend more money in poor areas. They are very good of throwing people of council land and creating shanty towns .The point is Cape Town is two cities in one .One poor and underdeveloped and one first world .

Im visiting here st the moment. Snd I agree it could vrty well be the best vity to visit in Africa. Iworked for 10 years in Cpt 1965 -1975, and it changed only for the good. Im soooo proud of Cape Town.

There is one negative problem, and that is the Exit of the needy poor from the Eastern Cape where corruption is rife and the needy are ignored. You don’t have to look no further than your own back yard from beyond Sir Leary pass to Cape Town City.??????
