It is no secret that the natural springs which run from the slopes of Table Mountain at Oranjezicht brings fresh water to the surface.
As an inclusion of the city of Cape Town’s Water Resilience Plan, new infrastructure has been put in place to augment the spring water from Oranjezicht to Molteno Reservoir. Today, Mayor Patricia de Lille will visit the newly-commissioned site as part of a media briefing on how the City is further planning to tap into natural water resources.
It is has been estimated that the commissioned spring will supply a further 2-million litres of water to the city’s bulk water network.
Daily average consumption of water throughout the city is at 602-million litres, 102-million litres behind target. Collective dam levels supplying Cape Town with drinking water are at 38.4% with level 5b water restrictions still in place.
