We’ve said it before, and we will keep on saying it. Cape Town is the best. To be fair, we are completely biased, particularly here at Cape Town ETC. Every day we see just how incredible the city is. We get thousands of images from you showing our stunning natural beauty, trendy city and colorful streets. We experience the best culture, food and entertainment that is on offer. With this in our faces all the time, it’s hard not to put Cape Town on a pedestal.
So when people from other parts of the world confirm this belief, we feel proud that our opinion is based on fact. Prestigious UK newspaper, The Telegraph held a vote for their 2015-16 Telegraph Travel Awards. According to the publication, 75 000 readers voted for their favourite destinations, airlines, tour operators and so forth. Not only was Cape Town voted the best City, it has won this honour for the fourth consecutive year. That means our standard as a world-class city and holiday destination has not dropped.
The second place went to Vancouver (Canada), and Venice (Italy) came in third. South Africa was voted third best country in the world, which is another impressive feather in our cap. We were succeeded by Maldives and New Zealand, who came in second and first respectively. This year we have already seen Camps Bay make Trip Advisors World’s Best Beach list. Truth Coffee Roasting was named The Telegraphs’ best coffee shop and Table Mountain and Cape Point saw a significant rise in visitors.
With so much going for us, we are sure to make other ‘world’s best’ lists, and honestly, we deserve to be there!

The difference is that the ANC controls the treasury and budget allocations to provinces. The DA has proven that they manage their budget more efficiently and with far less corruption than does the ANC. If they had the same powers as does the ANC then, I believe, and you are of course entitled to respectfully disagree, that the capes poor areas would improve faster than what they are currently able to. It’s unbelievable that ANC supporters will continue to support what is so obviously a hopelessly corrupt organization. And why? Well I have my own theory.

I’d love to know how uplifting poor people can be political. I just want to be able to sleep at night not worrying about people in our city living in terrible conditions. It worries me all the time.
For me it is about the people. Doesn’t matter in which area you live, Captonians are more truthful than people in other parts of the country. I alway get treated with respect and when someone is rude, they are not from here or hasn’t lived here for long. Even the petrol attendants ask you about your day when you visit them. I will assume even our criminals are more peaceful. Thanks for the award, we deserve it.

From my observations, the major issues that are problematic in CT such as a lack of sufficient police officers in impoverished areas where gang, drug & crime is prolific fall under the jurisdiction of the ANC national government. The DA is making excellent progress in all areas that fall under its jurisdiction such as education – the Matric results are proof thereof.
