I used to work @ Civic Centre, on 10th Fl, used to watch people hold on to poles – eventually when trying to cross boulevard they wind used to blow them over and in all directions. People used to think its BIG joke, stood lauging, i used to feel so sorry for those people. Reeds Motors on the corner opposite us, had to replace their huge windows both sides of corner every so often, sometimes 2-3x per month, even twice in 1 WEEK, must have cost them fortune, not sure if insurance paid out every time, after many years i see they are not on that spot anymore, new Co. nos have proper walls there. NOT FUNNY @ ALL, i always used to try avoid going to Foreshore, wind will scoop you up and put you down IN THE OCEAN if not holding on to fences and trees and what not!

Lived in Cape Town for 20 years and the one thing I just couldn’t get used to was the wind. You can’t arrange a braai in summer as you don’t know if you are going to be blow away. Summer very unpleasant, and winter rain rain rain.. Still love the Cape.
