Track superstar Caster Semenya cruised to gold in the women’s 800m final, beating her nearest opponent by an entire second-and-a-half.

She set a Commonwealth Games record too, finishing in a speedy 1:56:68. This is her second gold of the competition, making her a double gold medal holder for both the 1500m and 800m events.

Caster’s win brings South Africa’s medal tally up to 35 in total, with 13 gold medals.

Other triumphs from Team SA today include a gold medal for Martin Erasmus who won the men’s 97kg wrestling. He absolutely dominated India’s Mausam Khatri to win 12-2. Martin’s win is the first wrestling gold for South Africa in 60 years.

The women’s bowls pair Colleen Piketh and Nicolene Neal won silver after a nail biting final against Malaysia.
