A tough decision was made at the Red Cross Childrens’ Hospital to turn a young gunshot victim’s life support off after two weeks of no improvement.

Leo Williams from St Helena Bay was just nine years old when he was hit in the head by a stray bullet during riots that took place in Laingville two weeks ago.

After consultation with his family, the doctors at the Red Cross Childrens’ Hospital decided to switch his life support off.

Williams was inside his family home when the bullet was fired at his head and according to SABC News, some believe the bullet was allegedly fired by a police officer. Riots in the area had sparked due to lack of service delivery.

Investigations into the case are underway and the family is grieving the loss of their beloved son.
