Two police officers and six prisoners were reportedly rushed to hospital after a police vehicle collided with two civilian vehicles in Fish Hoek on Monday.

According to Daily Voice, the Ocean View police vehicle was transporting inmates to the court in Simon’s Town.

The incident happened in Main Road at around 8.35am.

Police said they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

A report by IOL quoted DA constituency head for the Deep South Mireille Wenger as saying the police vehicle was speeding and allegedly ran through a red traffic light.

Wenger said all prisoners in the back of the van were injured and one pedestrian was in critical condition.
