The Western Cape has recorded three additional deaths since Monday, May 3, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the province to 11 630.
This was said by Premier Alan Winde, as he gave an update on the coronavirus and vaccines status in the province.
“As of 1pm on 4 May 2021, the Western Cape has 1 882 active COVID-19 infections, with a total of 284 416 people having been infected with COVID-19 to date and 270 775 recoveries,” he said.

Winde said a total of 61 038 vaccines received to date as part of the Sisonke trial had been administered by 5pm on May 3.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Mkhize on Tuesday confirmed 59 more COVID-19 deaths in South Africa, bringing the death toll in the country to over 54 511, IOL reported.
