The Western Cape Provincial Department of Health says it is looking for health professionals to take up temporary employment to assist with delivery of health care services in the public sector for the COVID-19 period.
Premier Alan Winde tweeted on Thursday that: “We looking for professional Nurses, Doctors and Pharmacists to become Vaccinators for Phase 2 & 3 of COVID-19 vaccination.”

Last week, Winde said his province was gearing up for the COVID-19 third wave, adding that the Western Cape remained on track to roll out phase 2 of the vaccine strategy.

He also urged those over 60 to register for their jabs.
Meanwhile, the Western Cape has 1 906 active COVID-19 infections, with a total of 283 644 people having been infected with COVID-19 to date and 270 010 recoveries, as of 1pm on April 28.
“A total of 54 643 vaccines have been administered as part of the Sisonke trial to date,” he said.

“The Western Cape has recorded 12 additional deaths since our last daily update on Monday 26 April, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the province to 11 601.
“These are largely historical deaths that have been updated on the COVID-19 dashboard. There has not been a spike in deaths over the past few days. We send our condolences to their loved ones at this time,” Winde said.
