Two teams from a local soccer academy, Legends Soccer School, performed exceptionally well when they went to Adu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The team went to the UAE to partake in the third edition of the Manchester City Cup. The first Cup was launched in 2017, and continues to grow in stature year after year.
“The tournament proved to be a unique experience for all involved, and the winning teams from each age group were entered into a draw to win an all-expenses paid trip to the City Football Academy in Manchester, United Kingdom,” Soccer Legends School said.
This year, international teams from Australia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the United Kingdom came together to compete.
Organized by Manchester City, the event welcomed teams from the Manchester City Academy, Melbourne City Academy and countries such as South Africa (Legends Soccer School), Sri Lanka, Bahrain, and the UAE. Manchester City Academy Director Jason Wilcox attended the tournament to watch it unfold.
Legends Soccer School had two teams participate in the tournament, ages U12 and U14.
Both teams performed exceptionally well. The U12’s came 5th in their age group, out of 30 teams. The U14’s remained undefeated and reached the final match. They brought home a silver medal after losing 2 – 0 to Melbourne City Academy.
Legends Soccer School proudly represented South Africa and played extremely well overall. These young players showed some fantastic skill and attracted the attention of many spectators.
