Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has been vaccinated at Brooklyn Chest Hospital, where the Western Cape government launched phase 2 of its COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
According to IOL, Tutu, 89, and his wife Leah, were among the first in the province to get vaccinated.
The Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation expressed its support for COVID-19 vaccines in January.
“Thank you to our beloved Arch who is once again leading from the front,” said Premier Alan Winde, who was at the hospital.
