The #aminext movement has shone a spotlight on the plight of women in South Africa. Initially spurned by the brutal rape and murder of 19-year-old University of Cape Town (UCT) student Uyinene Mrwetyana, the movement has gained momentum beyond her death.

For several weeks, marches sprung up across not only Cape Town but the country as well, as women clad in black, clutching posters protested to hold government accountable for the cruelties and trauma faced in South Africa.

Women have banded together more than ever in the face of femicide, and a number of organisations are offering their services at either a discounted rate or completely free to support the cause.

The SA Women Fight Back Facebook group has also played an integral role in the fight against femicide, as it acts as a platform to unite women from all walks of life. Many women have shared their harrowing tales of narrowly escaping with their lives, but also many uplifting tales while offering a support system to others.

The group recently shared a list of services available to women across the country, including energy healing, trauma counselling, and self defence classes.
