A big change to the DStv channel offering has sparked outrage among locals, as the popular broadcast satellite service has announced it will be dropping some of the most-loved channels.
According to MultiChoice, the Crime+Investigation Network (DStv 170), History channel (DStv 186) and the Lifetime channel (DStv 131) will be removed from the channel list at the beginning of the new month.
“As part of our ongoing efforts to refresh our local content line-up and optimise the suite of channels on offer, MultiChoice Group will be saying goodbye to the History, Crime+Investigation and Lifetime channels on its DStv platform at the end of the current contract term. The current contract expires on 1 November,” DStv said.
As DStv says goodbye to three channels, it will also welcome two new channels that are yet to be announced. The broadcasting company claims that these channels will be thoroughly enjoyed by audiences. One channel is a new innovative brand while another is an already established global brand according to MultiChoice.
A number of customers’ favourites will be lost along with these three channels at the end of the month, leading many subscribers to lean towards canceling their DStv subscriptions.
