The crisis at Eskom continues as the power utility announced on Friday, June 4 that it has suspended the General Manager of the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, Velaphi Ntuli over performance-related issues. According to Eskom, the Koeberg station has been on a partial outage since January this year.

“Eskom leadership has been concerned with the outage at Koeberg power and the recent outage on unit one has again been plagued with delays resulting in significant slippage in the return to service date,” Eskom said.

Meanwhile, Eskom’s Chief Nuclear Officer, Riedewaan Bakardien will oversee the Koeberg operations as the investigations into Ntuli’s conducted continues. Eskom has also confirmed that stage two load shedding will continue until Sunday, June 6.
