After the daily challenges, constantly checking social media and anxiously watching the countdown clock, the day we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived – Dunkin’ Donuts South Africa launches today!
Cape {Town} Etc chatted to Rozanna Kader, the marketing and communications director of Grand Foods about the official Dunkin’ Donuts launch taking place in Goodwood today. Read on for all the delicious donut details you need to know.
1 When is the official Dunkin’ Donuts launch?
The first Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant in South Africa launches in Goodwood, Cape Town, on Thursday 13 October at 12 pm.
2 Why was Goodwood chosen over the CBD as the official Dunkin’ Donuts first location?
We wanted to make the first restaurant and launch really special. Grand Foods owns the building so we’re able to use the space to get some fun activities going for guests who attend on launch day.
3 How will Dunkin’ Donuts reward the first 100 customers at the launch?
There’ll be a number of rewards for the first hundred customers in the queue. The lucky person right at the front will receive a dozen assorted donuts and a medium original blend coffee every week for one year. Customers two to 50 will receive a dozen assorted donuts and a medium original blend coffee every month for six months, while customers 51 to 100 will receive one free medium original blend coffee and donut per week for up to six months.
4 How is Dunkin’ Donuts different from any other donut franchises?
Besides our variety of delicious donuts, we have a coffee offering that is world-renowned. Dunkin’ Donuts uses a secret, proprietary coffee recipe that people love because it’s never bitter, consistent and smooth, and rich in taste. We offer the perfect combination of great coffee and yummy donuts.
5 What was the response to the Dunkin’ Donuts challenges?
We had an overwhelming response to the campaign, and people really went above and beyond to move the date. When we launched our donut tattoo challenge, we definitely did not expect the response we received – in the end, four people walked away with a brand new donut tattoo.
6 Can we expect more Dunkin’ Donuts branches to open soon?
The next restaurant will open at the Canal Walk shopping centre on 1 November and we’ll have five in Cape Town by the end of 2016.

Sad !!terrible service with abrupt security guards with no tact how distasteful. Obviously thinking it is the launch to the Pentagon. What a Poor Poor Show. Meanwhile just another franchise polluting society. So much for a launch!
Freshly frozen 😀
I bet you also hate ice cream.
Jeez people are such party poopers… Don’t make others feel guilty for something that is supposed to be fun. You can have a DunkinDonut without getting obese!

It’s yummy. Just don’t over do on the donuts! Nice treat every once in a while!
Why all the haters wish I’m loving it sugar gives u go
as a diabetic i find this offensive
No thanks, just another donut.
Nobody said u mst buy is ur choice yo
Eish nobody have to buy if u don’t want to is ur Choice so stop complaining yo reali sickening complain over everything Jeez live and let live yo
Jassas but people can complain and be petty. It’s a doughnut shop, not a 5 star hotel. If you don’t like the food or the experience, don’t eat it. Can people find zero joy in anything whatsoever anymore? So much aggression and negativity on a comment thread about a doughnut shop! LOL Lighten up.
Darling, people get fat with or without donuts and that’s reality. Do you really think it would turn the whole of Cape Town into fat people??? Lol
Love love love it!
Great experience! I treated my sales team to Dunkin D’s yesterday. The wait was long but the donuts and fruit Coolata were well worth it, it ended up being a fun out of office team build! Rock on Dunkin Donuts!!!!
Craving!!!! Really glad is not nearby. U0001f369

Why complain, nobody asked you to buy their goods! You have a choice, so leave those who enjoyed it.

There is a perfectly good donut store next to marcels in canal walk. South Africa does not need any more American franchises. I don’t understand why we idolise and celebrate them when we have our own. I hate this kak
