Farm owner Stefan Smit from Louiesenhof in Stellenbosch was killed in his home on Sunday, June 2 2019.
Stellenbosch Municipality said in a statement on Twitter, “The Stellenbosch Municipality conveys its sincere condolences to the Smit family on the senseless murder of Mr Stefan Smit on his Louiesenhof farm last night. We condemn this incident in the strongest possible terms.”
According to News24, four masked men entered into his home on his farm through an unlocked door. Smit (62) was shot and killed.
Speaking to News24, Lieutenant Colonel AndrĂ© Traut said Smit’s wife and a friend of the family were present at the time of the incident. Both survived the attack.
Investigations are still underway.
