The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service responded to a fire that broke out in Beaconvale on Monday, September 28.

“I have received numerous requests about the building alight in Beaconvale. At this stage we have multiple fire crews on scene,” said Jermaine Carelse, Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.

The City said, the fire has since been contained at the Parow factory.

“We received an emergency call at 11:28, of a building alight in Selsdon Street, Beaconvale. We currently have crews from Epoing, Bellville, Goodwood and Belhar on scene with a total of 30 staff members. The building has been declared unsafe and two trucks were destroyed in the fire,” said Carelse.

One injury was reports, a man sustained sustained second degree burn wounds to his leg and arm.

The cause of the fire and the damage is also yet to be determined.
