Table Mountain is on fire once again – this time on Kloofnek. According to City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, Theo Layne, the fire broke out 2.30pm this afternoon.
Three helicopters have been deployed to waterbomb the vegetation and mountain slope fire, but this has not yet contained the fire.
Fourteen firefighting vehicles were deployed to the scene, along with assistance from Table Mountain National Parks authorities.
“There is some danger to residential property,” Lane admitted, but added that not enough to initiate an evacuation.
Kloofnek Road is closed between Bellevue Road, Vredekloof and Geneva Drive, Camps Bay. Kloof Road has also been closed toward the circle. Table Moutain Road has been evacuated and closed.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
