A fire has broken out on the lower slopes of Table Mountain above Deer Park Drive on Saturday, October 31 at 6pm.
Table Mountain National Park has responded with approximately 20 ground crew staff members and vehicles, as persistent winds are fuelling the flames
“Due to strong winds causing the fire to spread rapidly, additional resources from Volunteer Wildfire Services have been deployed,” said SANParks in a Facebook post.

The City’s Fire Service has responded with 17 firefighting appliances and 70 staff members.
“At this stage no property in danger,” said City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Jermaine Carelse.
Smoke from the fire is being blown out over the city and has covered most of the Three Anchor Bayside of Sea Point.
Table National Mountain Park addressed the lack of helicopter support in a reply to a user on Twitter explaining, “the choppers will be arriving in the coming weeks ahead of the 2020/2021 fire season set to kick in from the 1st of December. We have confidence in our ground crews to suppress this fire.”
