A fire is raging between the Huguenot Tunnel and Rawsonville. A lane has been closed along the N1 outbound after Klipriver and residents are being asked to proceed with caution in the area.
Strong winds were fanning the flames of the fire this morning, Thursday, July 9 and it appears to be spreading along the Du Toitskloof mountainside.
The fire is heading in the direction of Worcester next to the N1. The blaze will continue to be monitored throughout the day with firefighting being managed as required. Fire teams are hoping that the rain expected around 2pm today will assist in dousing the flames.
