A young girl’s life came to a tragic end today, Boekenhout Street, Bonteheuwel. Zahrah Conlan (7) passed away late Monday night after she was killed in an accident after being knocked over by a vehicle.

It is alleged that she was driven over by a taxi said to be owned by her father. The 7-year-old girl’s death came as a huge shock to her family and fellow Community members.

Angus McKenzie, Bonteheuwel ward councillor, says the loss of any child is a painful experience, but in this manner, is particularly heartbreaking.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends at this time,” he said.

McKenzie added that residents of Bonteheuwel should pray for the family at this time.

“This is tragically sad and words fail us at this time. My deepest sympathy goes to her family and friends.”

According to a source, the Conlan family do own taxis. Zahrah was allegedly standing behind the vehicle when her uncle was reversing. It has been said that he did not see her and drove over her.

The circumstances surrounding the child’s death are still unclear, however, this is a developing story.
